The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fund-raising at the University, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.
The Development Assistant will provide administrative support to the Senior Director of Planned Giving as well as supplemental support to other Major Gift initiatives. This individual will play a key role in working with the senior Development staff responsible for securing Major Gifts and stewarding donor relations, finalizing letters, memoranda, donor reports, funding proposals, and other correspondence. Will be responsible for arranging and tracking meetings related to Major/Planned Gift donors and prospects (including meetings involving the University President, Senior Vice President for Development, and/or University trustees). The Development Assistant will help to organize and staff events for the Planned Giving advisory group, known as the Committee on Trust and Estate Gift Plans. These events include the Committee's annual business meeting and fall and spring donor cultivation events. This will include assisting in with other major donor cultivation events, including Trustee-hosted dinners. Additional responsibilities include data entry, coding, and other tracking functions related to the above activities, as well as general office support functions, and telephone coverage for Planned Giving/Major Gifts area.
Bachelor's degree required. Excellent administrative skills, Microsoft suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and computer database entry skills required, experience using Adobe and HTML is a plus. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proofreading skills are essential. Must have a professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and proper phone etiquette. Must be able to work in a face-paced office, and in a team, environment noted for its atmosphere of collaboration.
